Fall in Hudson

October is a great time to (re) discover and fall in love with Hudson!

Just because Summer is officially over doesn’t mean that now isn’t a great time to take a trip up to Hudson. Enjoy all that’s going on in and around the city.  From Fall Festivals and Beverage Tours to live performance and world-class dining, there so much happening.  You’ll find yourself coming back again and again.

Fall FoliageWhy not take a fun Fall Foliage boat cruise on the Spirit of Hudson?  Bring your camera and be prepared to be wowed. The amazing colors of the season transform the landscape.  Every imaginable shade of red, orange and gold is on display.  There’s no better way to see the changing of the seasons than from the river.  Hudson Cruises does it best!

Mamma MiaHow about some live theater?  Check out Taconic Hills’ Performing Arts Center’s production of “Mamma Mia”.  This smash hit musical is sure to have you dancing in the aisles to ABBA’s iconic music.

Fall FestivalJust a short drive to Kinderhook, the whole family can enjoy the “OK Fall Festival”.  The event features a Farmers Market, Hay Rides, Bake Off & Live Music.  Kids can have fun creating their own painted or carved pumpkins, too!

Don’t forget to pick up some of the Hudson Valley’s best.  Everything apple: cider, donuts and apples are plentiful.  Any one of many farm stands in and around Hudson can help.  Pick you own too for some additional fun.

Of course make your visit perfect by booking with us at The Barlow!  Located right in the center of Hudson, and just steps from everything there is to do, see and taste, the Hotel is the perfect homebase for exploring Columbia County.  Our friendly staff, most who grew up in the area, will be happy to share with you their favorite Fall outings you’re sure to enjoy.

So, if you haven’t discovered it – or if it’s been a while – now is a great time to Fall in love with Hudson!

Summer cools down, the Hudson Valley heats up

Some feel Labor Day marks the end of summer: kids go back to school, thoughts turn to raking leaves and picking pumpkins and the weather starts to cool off.  We couldn’t disagree more at The Barlow!

The Columbia County Chamber of Commerce has published their monthly e-newsletter and there is SO much to do!  What’s your pleasure?  Indie music, art and dance?  Touring historic site throughout Columbia County including churches and homes?  Paddling on the Hudson River?  Apple picking at the Hudson Valley Apple Festival?

There’s something for everyone!  So when someone tells you that Summer is over all you need to say is “Not in the Hudson Valley!”
