Yes. It’s cold in Hudson and has been for almost a week. How cold? Well cold enough that the temporary heating couldn’t keep up with the temperature and almost ground the work to a standstill. Almost that is….
One of the discoveries we’ve made in the demolition of The Barlow is the original structure which we’ve previously mentioned. What we didn’t know was the extent to which the structure of the part of the building that was added in the 1920’s was built. Our fantastic architect had to devise a method of reinforcing the building using steel posts and beams. Fortunately that would could continue, despite the chilly temperatures. That work is now coming a close and the building is completely sound.
Next week is expected to be much warmer (in the 50’s) and so the construction will resume at full strength. But for now? Brrrrrrr!
