Hudson’s music scene is roaring right along with great performances taking place every week.  Recently Helsinki Hudson welcomed renowned artist Mavis Staples to the stage in a show one reviewer called, “a rare chance to see a living legend”.  The Hudson Opera House hosted an intimate concert by performer Dan Tepfer, with guest vocalist Joanna Wallfisch, to a sold out crowd.  The concert comes on the heels of HOH’s highly praised presentation of TedX Talks.

Classics on Hudson: Helena Baillie and Alexander Henry

Helena Baillie and Alexander Henry to perform at TK Home and Garden

The Barlow Privilege Partner TK Home and Garden will be presenting a fundraising event featuring Helena Baillie (violin) and Alexander Henry (guitar) on Saturday, September 6 at 6:00 p.m.

According to the press release:

In preparation for the coming series, Classic on Hudson is currently focused on fund raising efforts to support the program. An intimate performance in a unique space seems like the best way to get started. On Saturday, September 6th at 6pm, Hudson housewares store and art gallery TK Home and Garden will host “An Evening of Classical and Tango” with Helena Baillie (violin) and Alexander Henry (guitar) in its second-floor gallery space. Pieces from Bach, Bartok, and Paganini, plus tango pieces and more, will be on the set list for the event. And with this group’s deep reach into the performing community, one should expect the unexpected.

In early 2014, a committee was brought together and Classics on Hudson was formed to continue the mission of Claverack Landing, with Gould and Helena Baillie established as co-artistic directors. Baillie, a multifaceted career performer, artist fellow at Bard College, and violin faculty member at the Bard College Conservatory of Music Preparatory Division, will join a list of internationally acclaimed musicians for six performances over the 2014 and 2015 season.

Tickets are $35 and can by purchased at TK Home and Garden.

Once again Hudson is putting on an amazing weekend of entertainments at Basilica SoundScape 2013.

Basilica Hudson’s website describes the event as follows:

Basilica Hudson is working in collaboration with international music organizers and connoisseurs, Pitchfork’s Brandon Stosuy and Brian Deran of Gleam HOuse and Leg Up Management, to program BasilicaSoundScape (formally Basilica Music Fest), a carefully curated weekend program featuring a wide range of music, visual art, and literature that aims for specific connections and overlaps instead of “festival”-style overload.
